About this site:
In 1993, I spent the year writing in a blank datebook from 1954. Now, in 2010, I'm posting each page on the web and writing about it. You may want to start at the beginning.

1954: August 20-21

Friday
Heather D. threatened more than once to kill me and skin me alive. It's always the quiet ones...

Mike and Chad left for Western Illinois University today. They were roommates, which turned out to be a mistake. Their poor school habits reinforced each other, and Chad only made it a semester, which Mike managed to hang on by a thread through the following summer.

Saturday
It's funny reading how into Fresh Fields I was. It was an early competitor to Whole Foods and Wild Oats Market; that type of grocery store was so new and different back then.

I'd forgotten how close Mitch and I got that year. We had lunch together during the school year, and he was a budding thespian. I took him under my wing a bit, and unfortunately I didn't stay in touch after I left for college. He was pretty hurt, and I don't blame him. I'm glad we had good times back then, though. He was a really good guy. Brandon, he and I stretching one story over three hours sounds like a wonderful way to spend the evening.
